Hurricane Ike - 2008

Sunday Services with the SBC Disaster Relief Team | Home Cooked Meal
Before and After Hurricane Ike Hits Galveston Island | Disaster Reliefs Team at Work

Shortly following the arrival of Hurricane Ike we received a request from the Southern Baptist Convention that we host a Baptist Disaster Relief Team. They used our parking lot as a command center for their activities which included teams to remove sheetrock and to cut down trees and limbs that threaten lives and property. As of October 12th they had received over 150 requests for help and have completed over half of these requests. The 40-50 volunteers working out of our parking lot came from Indiana, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Mississippi. We asked the Lord to bless these wonderful people who volunteered their time and talents to come to the aid of our Island. It is overwhelming the love and care these men and women have shared with us and so many on the Island.

October 12, 2008: At our first Sunday worship service since Hurricane Ike hit Galveston Island members of one of the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Teams joined us for services. Here are some photos from that service.
